Our Approach to Environmental Protection

In 2020, GLS launched its Climate Protect environmental initiative in order to coordinate and proactively foster the diverse array of environmental activities within the GLS Group.

It includes process optimisation and the gradual transition of the vehicle fleet to electric and low-emission vehicles, where technically and operationally feasible.

♻️Parcels delivery via GLS Slovakia will be more sustainable.♻️

At GLS Slovakia, we care about the effects our activities have on the world around us. Our Climate Protect environmental strategy focuses on progressively reducing carbon emissions from delivery vehicles, increasing the energy efficiency of our buildings and mitigating resource waste.

Vehicles

Conversion of the vehicle fleet

GLS is gradually working to improve the efficiency of its vehicle fleet and to address emissions related to transport activities.

Vehicles used by transport partners as well as company-owned vehicles are progressively renewed and replaced with newer models where operational and technical conditions permit.
When renewing the fleet, factors such as fuel consumption, available technologies, and local operating conditions are taken into account.

Electric vehicles

Increased use of electric vehicles

GLS Slovakia is gradually expanding the use of electric vehicles within its delivery network. These vehicles are used for parcel delivery in urban areas and selected locations.
Electric vehicles complement the existing fleet, and their deployment depends on operational requirements and the availability of suitable charging infrastructure.

As part of this strategy our fleet includes more than 100 electric vans.
